Detailed Installation for Macintosh

These instructions have been made with freshly installed Mac OS/X 10.14 Mojave and Premiere Pro CC 2019. (These instructions also work for earlier and later versions of both Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC). The dock looks something like:

Firstly open the MBR Color Corrector 3 zip file in Finder. If you have just downloaded it, then double clicking in the downloads section of Safari will bring up the correct window:

Open a second Finder window looking at your Computer. This is easily done by selecting two menu options in Finder:

Next, point the new Finder window at /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/. This is easily done by double clicking on the follow folders:

Finally, copy the MBR Color Corrector 3.plugin file from the original Finder window into the second Finder Window:

When you start Premiere Pro or After Effects, the plugin will appear in the Effects list in the Color Correction section.

If the plugin doesn't appear in the Effects list, close Premiere Pro and restart it while holding the shift key. (Premiere Pro has a plugin cache that can get confused, but holding down shift Premiere Pro will rescan all the plugins and update the cache).

Extra step for MacOS Catalina users

Apple have started requiring developer signatures in MacOS Catalina. This shows up as a warning box stating that plugin "can't be opened because its integrity cannot be verified."

The workaround for this problem is to remove the quarantine flag as follows:

  1. Open Terminal (for example, by opening Launch Pad and searching for Terminal)
  2. Enter the command
    cd "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/"
    and press Enter
  3. Enter the command
    sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine "MBR Color Corrector 3.plugin"
    and press Enter

After doing so, you may have to hold the shift key while starting Premiere Pro for the first time. (Premiere Pro has a plugin cache that may remember that the plugin didn't work, but holding down shift Premiere Pro will rescan all the plugins and update the cache).
